Warning Signs of Heat Stroke and Exhaustion

Watch for signs of heat stress and exhaustion in children who are playing outside. Be on the lookout for the following warning signs:
  • Excessive thirst.
  • Decreased sweating.
  • Clammy skin.
  • Elevated body temperatures (above 105 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Seizures.
  • Severe headaches.
  • Fainting.
  • Muscle cramps.

If you notice any of these symptoms with your child, or with children you are babysitting, remove the child from the hot temperatures/sunlight and seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
